Centennial Fellowship

This is a Legacy Program that awarded grants in 1999.

The James S. McDonnell Centennial Fellowships were awarded to two scientist-scholars in each of five categories:

  • Astrophysics and cosmology
  • Human genetics
  • Global and complex systems
  • Human cognition
  • History and philosophy of science

The intent of the awards was to mark the transition of these pursuits into the 21st century by supporting and encouraging young scientists and scholars whose work will contribute substantially to the development of knowledge and its responsible application in the century to come.
